VERB Tenses - Simple Present, Past, Present Progressive and Past Participle

Verb Tenses is the learning the parts of Verbs will help you in your language learning quest. What is verb? Verbs are doing words or action words. They give life to sentence, speech and to conversation. They put sentences into action. Tense means TIME. A verb takes place in a period of time. This is called a tense. So get the point. The TENSE of the verb is the TIME it took place. There are THREE points of TIME. Verbs are either in the Present, Past and Future. Before you begin the verb tense lessons, it is extremely important to understand that NOT all English verbs are the same.

This unit will help you to understand the Simple Present, Past, Present Progressive and Past Participle of a verb. You will be able to write sentences using the correct tense, and to identify the correct tense of a verb.

PRESENT TENSE: The verb shows action that happens regularly.
Example :                Radzi plays football with Wong.

PAST TENSE :       The verb shows action that happened.
Example :                I wrote a story about animals.

PRESENT PROGRESSIVE : The verb shows action that happens right now and also for several actions happening at the same time. It takes the form be + V ing.
Example :                They are speaking.

PAST PARTICIPLE : The verb shows that something was completed in the past before another action. Usually, the past participle and the past tense are used in the same sentence. The verb ends in -ed or -en and it is the part of a verb.
Example :                   We had gone to the school when she arrived.
